| What is "direct export"? In some databases it is possible to export the search results directly into Zotero via the Browser connector thats available for different browsers. Via this browser connector Zotero will open a pop-up screen and you can select the references and choose a library in which you want to transfer the search results. This works fine in many databases (a.o. Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO). If this is the case, it is the easiest way to transfer references from a database to Zotero. |
First install the Browser connector via Zotero - Tools - Install Browser connector ...
The connector appears a the topright of your browser:
or as a folder:
We show you the direct export possibility for the databases Web of Science and PubMed.
Web of Science
A link to Web of Science can be found on the page 'All databases' of the University Library.
When you do a search in Web of Science the screen with results looks like this:
Scroll down your results to receive the amount of records you saw by scrolling and click the Zotero browser connector.
This message appears on the screen if you use this application for the first time:
Click Got it. Now you have to click the Z- or folder symbol again and the pop-up with records appears.
Select the records you want to add to your library and click OK
By clicking “OK”, Zotero will open a pop-up screen in the browser and you can select the library All or a collection which you want to save your records in, click the button "Ready".and the data will be transferred.
PubMed
Direct export to Zotero works well in PubMed too
Search for your articles and if you see them on your screen click the Z- or folder symbol and the pop-up with records appears.
Select the records you want to add to your library and click OK
By clicking “OK”, Zotero will open a pop-up screen in the browser and you can select the library All or a collection which you want to save your records in, click the button "Ready".and the data will be transferred.
You can do this assignment after section 3.3
You can only do this assignment if you have access to Web of Science (on campus; off campus employees and students of RU and Radboudumc can log in).
Also the Zotero program and Browser connector should be installed on your PC.
