Citing sources in APA style 7th ed.

Crediting sources and formatting references according to the style of the American Psychological Association (APA). Based on the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the APA.

Basic principles

APA uses the author/date method for citing sources in your text.

Example: (Diamond & Parker, 2022). Or: Diamond and Parker (2022) showed . . .

If you quote you also mention the page where the quotation can be found in your source:
(Diamond & Parker, 2022, p. 18). Or: Diamond and Parker (2022, p. 18) point out ". . ."

In a reference list at the end of your document you mention all the sources you cited in your text, but not more than those cited there.

The rules for citing in APA style and standards for other parts of manuscripts are included in the:

American Psychological Association. (2020). Publication manual of the American Psychological Association: The official guide to APA style (7th ed.).
