IEEE Xplore is a digital library that offers full-text access to technical literature on electrical engineering, information technology, electronics and related disciplines.

Advanced Search

In Advanced Keyword/Phrases you can refine your search by ticking different options, such as Open Access, Books & E-books or Standards. You can also indicate that you only want to look in Metadata Only (abstract, title and keywords) or in Full Text & Metadata.

In the example on the right, a search is made in Full Text & Metadata by Author van Eekelen, Document Title architecture and in IEEE Terms smart grids. You can also indicate your preference for Publisher, Content Types and Publication Year.

Command Search allows you to conduct a search using Data Fields and Operators (see right). This gives you more search fields and more control over the order of the search results.

You can use a maximum of 15 search terms. For more command search examples, click on ‘See more Examples’.

In Citation Search enter the details of a publication you know and click on Search. You do not have to complete all the fields, but the more you know, the sooner you will find the article. Two examples are given below:
