Information about Reaxys, a web-based chemical database

Why and when to use Reaxys?

Why Reaxys

Reaxys is a database where you can find data about materials and reactions. This information is extracted from scientific journals in a smart way. This means that:

  • You can combine keywords with chemical structures or reactions in your search
  • You can cite directly from scientific literature

Reaxys extracts data from scientific literature and presents this in tables. This means you do not have to go through all the full texts to be able to find the correct data. It saves you a lot of time!

Who uses Reaxys?

Since this software is designed to search with chemical structures and reactions, this database is especially of interest for organic chemists.

About

Reaxys (www.reaxys.com) is a web-based, chemical search engine that allows to search for chemical reactions, (parts of) chemical structures and substance properties (e.g. spectra). In this libguide you can find more information about the possibilities of Reaxys with extra explanations and tutorials. Navigate through the different tabs in the top of the screen.

Tip: Register

Why register?
When working in Reaxys, all your search tasks will be saved. However, when registered and signed in, saving search tasks is possible over a longer period of time or even after closing the webpage. Additionally it is possble to create alerts and save your synthesis plan. You can register for free.

In order to register, click on Sign in in the top right corner of your screen, then click on Register again in the top right corner. When the registration is complete, it is possible to login with your email-address and password.
